Dr. Lipson was raised in Claremore, OK which also happens to be the hometown of Will Rogers. She is the oldest of three daughters and was the first in her family to graduate from college and remains the only physician in the family to date. Her neighbor, who was also a physician, provided a strong influence that made her realize, at the age of 15, that she wanted to become a physician herself. She studied at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA and graduated with a degree in microbiology in 1987. She returned to OK to attend Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated in 1992. She then took off to Flint, MI for her family medicine residency. After completing her residency, she joined the family medicine residency faculty where she first met her husband.
Dr. Lipson moved to Colorado in 1997 and a year later she and her husband were married. They have no children and live in Conifer with their black lab, Belle. Dr. Lipson is an accomplished baker and particularly enjoys decorating cakes. While she can't play a single note on an instrument, she does love music of all genres. She also loves attending the ballet and theater.
Dr. Lipson tries to practice what she preaches, so she exercises regularly and has completed three triathlons, as well as a number of short races. She is especially fond of bicycling and often rides her bike from Morrison to the office or from the office to Morrison when weather permits.
While it can be confusing, Dr. Lipson is an osteopathic physician- not a naturopathic physician. She was trained and largely practices traditional medicine. The connection between the body, mind and spirit is a philosophy to which Dr. Lipson subscribes and tries to incorporate in her practice of medicine. She believes that most of the chronic medical conditions from which people suffer are a direct result of their lifestyle. Giving the body what it needs (proper sleep, proper diet, regular exercise, proper fluid intake, stress reduction and avoidance of harmful substances) is necessary for maintaining good health and fighting disease. She also believes that the best medical decisions are made when the physician and patient are working together as a team.
